DSActive Leisure and Fitness Workshop

The DSActive programme is designed to provide as many opportunities as possible for people with Down’s syndrome to be active and healthy. DSActive was created in response to the awareness of the sedentary lifestyles of many children and adults with Down’s syndrome and the subsequent health problems, including obesity, resulting from lack of exercise and participation in sport.
The workshop has been accredited by CIMSPA and is three hour workshop (with theory and practical elements).
Day – Friday 5th April 2019
Timing – 11:00AM- 2:00PM
Cost – £30 for CIMSPA Members, £35 for non-CIMSPA members.
(3 CIMSPA Points for CIMSPA members)
The workshop is ideally for the health and fitness professionals working within leisure and fitness centres such as duty managers, personal trainers, sports coaches, membership managers, marketing / comms managers, receptionists, catering managers, health & safety managers.
The aims of the workshop are to give staff from leisure and fitness providers;
- Understanding people with Down’s syndrome,
- Health conditions,
- Myths, Truth and Terminology,
- Our research and case studies,
- Barriers, improvements and suggestions,
- Practical element and conclusion.
