About Richmond Opera
Richmond Opera, based in West London, puts on one fully-staged opera and one major concert a year, along with a variety of smaller informal events including members’ concerts and one-off performances. They are an inclusive community group which welcomes amateurs and aspiring professionals. They are led by professionals and their members include singers, dancers and orchestral players as well as those involved in back-stage production.
They aim for the highest musical and performance standards, holding internal and external auditions for key solo roles although, whenever possible, they cast existing members in solo roles. Anyone is welcome to join the chorus and also be considered for solo roles.
Formerly Isleworth Baroque, they generally perform 17th and 18th century works, especially Handel, Purcell, the great French baroque composers and Mozart, in their main Autumn productions. Other concerts can range from early music to Gilbert and Sullivan and 20th century songs from the shows.
