The Blue Apple Theatre is an integrated theatre company for adults with and without learning disabilities. It was launched in 2005, their aim being to challenge pre-conceptions and raise the ceiling of expectation for learning disabled performers. Their first Shakespeare production was a Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2010.
They are now developing a touring production of Hamlet which will play across theatres in the south of England, ending with a gala celebration of this huge achievement at the Normansfield Theatre.
The writer, William Jessop, worked with the actors to capture their insight into the play’s story, to fit its themes to their real life experiences and to make Hamlet their own.
