Richmond Opera presents a new staging of one of the first great operas, Monteverdi’s Orfeo, based on the Greek legend of Orpheus.
On their wedding day, Orfeo and Euridice revel in the joy of their love. But their happiness is shattered when Euridice is fatally bitten by a snake. Orfeo, fuelled by passion and armed only with the power of his music, resolves to journey into the Underworld to bring back his beloved.
